Laundry the NZ Way

When we made arrangements for our house in NZ, we asked the landlord to install a clothes dryer. When we arrived, we learned that most people hang their clothes on the line to dry because it is so expensive to use a dryer and because they like the smell of clothes that have dried in the sun. We decided to give it a try and mostly like it. It certainly takes longer to dry clothes, and clothes tend to come in a bit rumpled, but we’re hoping it makes a difference in the power bill at the end of the month. As for the "smell of the sun," we'll have to see about that.
