This is Claudine.
When we got here, the plane flight had become so arduous by the end we were absolutely exhausted. It was so wonderful to arrive and find friends waiting for us. They packed us up in two cars and a taxi, and brought us safely home to collapse!
Donald and his wife Rupa are friends that I made over 10 years ago when I came to New Zealand for the first time. I have continued to see Donald at conferences over the years, and in the interim, Mark and I hosted Donald for a concert at BYU. We have maintained our friendship through Christmas cards, joint concerts in places as far off as Iceland, letters, and even arguments about viola pieces! It was so welcome to see them both again. They now have two sweet little girls named Lucy and Gemma who are close in age to our own girls.
Since we have been here they have loaned us their car, a bed for Julia, had us over for dinner, given us maps, brought us treats, showed us special places in NZ and the list goes on! They are Julia’s and Evelyn’s favorite playmates. In fact, Evelyn already had her Kiwi accent in place by the first week, and I think this came directly from playing with Lucy and Gemma. We are so grateful for all the kindness these good friends have shown us.
