Claudine here interloping again! At the school welcome "tea," I asked what would be the most New Zealand thing to eat and everyone said, Lamington Cake and Milo (a kind of pero/hot cocoa). The Lamington I ate was HOT PINK! But I think the more typical flavor is chocolate. It is basically a sponge cake coated with dessicated coconut served with cream.
Here is a link to a recipe I am going to try for Lamington that gives a good description of what it is. Like Pavlova, Australians and New Zealanders argue about which country they belong to!

Wikipedia has an interesting entry about Milo if you are interested. Evelyn and I love it, but Mark and Julia are not sold on it yet!
