Split Apple Rock Beach

We spent 5 wonderful days on the Northern part of South Island.  One of our favorite places was Split Apple Rock Beach.   It was pretty secluded and involved a nice walk down a steep-staired track to the ocean.

The sand was a beautiful golden color with occasional swirls of black sand that appeared to come from the fresh water streams that run to the turquoise sea.

The iconic rock is about 10 feet in diameter.
