Multi-day hikes (or “tramps” as they are known here) are a
common activity in New Zealand.
One day
we hiked a very small portion of the track in Able Tasman National Park.
One of the striking things about New Zealand
is the diversity of plants, animals, and scenery packed into a relatively small
area.
We explored rocky ocean beaches.
We saw fascinating lush vegetation, including huge ferns.
We walked on wooden pathways through wetlands.
