New photo format

Wellington Zoo

After the beach we went back to the Wellington Zoo to finish off the afternoon.

 One of our favorite animals was the Sun Bear

 

We were also reminded to keep a lookout for unusual native animals all around us.

On the way home we stopped at the park just outside the zoo.

And you thought only monkeys played like this.

 

Even Jonathan got in on the fun.

We were happy parents today, indeed.

Girls at the beach

While Jonathan was taking surfing lessons, Julia and Evelyn had their own fun at the beach.

Surfing Lessons

Today Jonathan took surfing lessons down at Lyall Beach.

They started off learning to hold the board correctly.

Then they learned to pretend to paddle in the water.

They finally got in the water.

And Jonathan got up.

I think Jonathan has something new to spend his money on.

Penguin Boxes

This morning we went to the Wellington Zoo to help make homes / boxes for these little guys.

Volunteers made 150 that will be taken to the coast to help protect the penguins.

They had the wood pre-cut and we hammered in the nails.

 After we finished building them they let us decorate them.  Mark added a "stained glass window."

 The girls added their love.

Not sure what Jonathan added.

Pirate Girls

At the park by the beach there is a pirate ship for the kids to play in.  The girls went up into the crow's nest to look around.  (Aaron's photos)

Potty Humor

In downtown Wellington we saw this sign (thanks for the photo Aaron) and it made us laugh.
